Promoting and developing our children's love of reading is a key priority for all staff here at the BeDifferent Federation. Reading is integral to every part of our lives and is an essential skill that impacts us from an early age and into adulthood. Celebrating our love for reading through our 'All Booked Up' themed day is a fabulous opportunity for us to provide reading experiences for the children that engage and excite them as learners.
This year, our children enjoyed a visit to the Book 'n' Bite café to purchase a chosen book and enjoy a biscuit with their friends, our fun Book Boffins quizzes and the opportunity to read with children across the school. Our younger children enjoyed a storytelling workshop led by either the incredibly talented Mrs Barrett-Mason or by our very own wonderful librarian, Mr Daniels. This learning was all then followed up with the children creating some fabulous writing which will be celebrated on display in our classrooms soon.
We loved wearing our pyjamas and dressing up as our favourite book characters to really bring this fabulous day to life.
This year we challenged the children to be creative with their book character costumes. The most creative costume in each class was selected and these children were awarded with a very special prize.
Our older children were challenged with a tricky Book Boffins quiz that tested their memory of the texts read in class so far this year. The children who answered the most questions correctly were then rewarded with a special prize for their hard work. The competition was so very close and we are very proud of all that the children remembered.
Thank you to our families for their donations of books for this event and for supporting the children by preparing costumes, pyjamas or sending the children into school with money to spend in the Book n Bite Café.
